Innaminka to the Murray River
October 2008

Hobart to Googs     Kingoonya to Dig Tree

At Innaminka we went out to Coongie lakes, another good bird place. Down past Moomba, and across to Cameron Corner at the corner of South Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales. From
Tibooburra we drove across to Wanaaring to camp on the banks of the Paroo River, down to Tilpa (population 6) for a cider, and then camped on the Darling River at the Wilga campsite. At Menindie we
checked out the lakes (looked fairly full) and camped on the Darling again not far from where they were letting water out of the lakes to flow on down towards the Murray River. We had another very
peaceful camp on the Murray River at Gunbower Island - then a night in Bendigo before Melbourne and back to Tasmania.

Elli ringing her Mother in America for her birthday - from Innaminka (not our vehicle).

Some of the crowd outside the general store, and the pub, at Innaminka.

Used to be a nursing home (1929-1956). Reverend Flynn initiated this to service the remote stations in the area. Restored in 1991.

Camped at Coongie Lakes.

Photo taken through a good bird watching telescope, with a small digital camera held to it.

Moomba gas plant.

Their pipelines.

Typical big red sand dunes in this area.

We met this bloke walking across Australia from west to east.

John Olsen - raising money for Australian Lions Children's Mobility foundation, and the Australian Leukodystrophy Support Group.

We camped off the road before Tibooburra. The long path diagonally across the front is an ant path.

We followed it and found it led to this bush which was covered in ants - wouldn't want to brush against it accidentally.

I tried them out with a Smartie - they had moved it several inches before we left.

Had had a slow leak for a couple of days so took this opportunity to repair it.

A simple nail - no need to take the tyre off the rim this time.

The built in compressor.

Camped on the banks of the Paroo River at Wanaaring.

Stopped for a cider at Tilpa - and met three quarters of the population.
